Biography
Dr. Cummings is Vice-Chair for Research and Professor in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation/Neurological Surgery. He holds a joint appointment in Anatomy & Neurobiology and is a founding member of Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Reseach Center (a CIRM Institute) and the Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND). He has 25 years experience in animal models of neurodegeneration and neurotrauma and 10+ years experience with human neural stem cell transplantations in the CNS. He is an author on over 70 peer-review publications. His research contributed to FDA and SwissMedic approval for a trial of hNSCs in chronic, thoracic spinal cord injuries in collaboration with StemCells Inc.
