Biography
Professor Savas graduated from Ankara University (Turkey), School of Medicine in 1986. He was enrolled in the neurosurgical training program as resident at Department of Neurosurgery at Istanbul University, and completed this program in 1992. Afterwards, he made his doctoral (PhD) study in Neuropharmacology and got further training in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery at Freiburg University (Germany). He became Associate Professor in 2000; and Professor of Neurosurgery in 2006. He has got the research prize of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) in 2002. He is executive member of the EANS Examination and Research Committees; and Executive Committee Member of the European Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. He worked as "visiting professor" at Munich University (Germany) in 2006; and at the University of Illinois at Chicago (USA) in 2012. He has been working as Professor of Neurosurgery at Ankara University.

Movement disorders surgery (Parkinson's Disease, tremor, distonia), Pain surgery (trigeminal neuralgia, cancer pain, neuropathic pain) and Brain tumor surgery beside general neurosurgery
